Deputy Minister of Gender Equality Requests to Stop Secondary Harm Such as Personal Information Exposure Related to Dating Violence
Shin Young-sook, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, recently appealed to stop secondary victimization such as doxxing of the deceased victim in relation to the dating violence murder case that occurred near Gangnam Station.
In a statement on the 9th, Vice Minister Shin said, "The government has strengthened punishment for perpetrators and expanded support for victims to protect them from various forms of violence such as dating violence and stalking," adding, "Nevertheless, it is regrettable that dating violence incidents continue to occur, including this case."
She continued, "The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will promptly hold the 2nd Expert Committee of the Women’s Violence Prevention Committee (covering domestic violence, stalking, and dating violence) with related ministries such as the Ministry of Justice and the National Police Agency, experts, and field officials participating," and said, "We will listen to various opinions and identify and promote necessary improvements."

Furthermore, she emphasized, "Since the incident, the victim’s personal information and photos have been indiscriminately spread through social networking services (SNS), causing secondary harm," and urged, "Simple curiosity can leave irreparable wounds, so please stop secondary victimization such as doxxing to protect the honor of the deceased."
