Muan-gun Illo-eup Organizations Urge Mokpo National University Medical School Establishment 'Push'

Appeal for Improving Poor Medical Conditions in Western Jeonnam After 34 Years of Efforts

On the 9th, the organizations and social groups of Illo-eup, Muan-gun, Jeonnam, announced that they held a performance in front of the Illo-eup Office to advocate for the establishment of the College of Medicine at the National Mokpo University.

During the performance, participants held placards and banners expressing their wish to attract the College of Medicine and shouted slogans demanding, "Promptly finalize the plan to establish the College of Medicine at Mokpo University," clearly demonstrating the strong will of the residents of Illo-eup.

They also raised their voices emphasizing that everyone has the right to enjoy balanced medical benefits, and that the College of Medicine at Mokpo University must be established to improve the poor medical conditions in the western region of Jeonnam and to protect the right to life and health.

In particular, they claimed that the demand for the establishment of the College of Medicine at Mokpo University began in 1990 when they requested the Ministry of Education to allocate 80 medical school seats, and that efforts to establish the medical school have continued for the past 34 years, making the establishment of the College of Medicine at Mokpo University a natural outcome.

Kim Jun-yeon, chairman of the Illo-eup Village Chief Council, said, “We will do our best to ensure that the College of Medicine is established at Mokpo University, reflecting the strong will and wishes of the residents of Illo-eup for the attraction of the National Mokpo University College of Medicine.”

Meanwhile, the organizations and social groups of Illo-eup are expressing their determination and aspirations by posting banners expressing their wish to attract the College of Medicine along the roadsides throughout Illo-eup.
