Joint Inspection by Mokpo Coast Guard, Mokpo Maritime Affairs Office, and Local Governments Targeting 36 Hazardous Areas
Mokpo Coast Guard Station (Chief Kwon Oh-seong) announced that from the 9th to the 20th, it will conduct a risk survey and regular inspection of coastal waters for hazardous areas prone to coastal accidents in 2024.
The coastal waters risk survey investigates locations where accidents causing harm to human life have occurred or are highly likely to occur within coastal waters. It is conducted at least once a year in accordance with the "Act on the Prevention of Coastal Accidents" and the "Coastal Accident Safety Management Regulations."

Hazardous areas are classified into zones where fatal accidents have occurred, frequent coastal accident zones, and coastal accident risk zones. Within the jurisdiction of Mokpo Coast Guard, there are 36 such locations, including Mokpo North Port Pier and Sinan Namgang Wharf.
The risk survey is conducted jointly by Mokpo Coast Guard, Mokpo Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, and local governments.
They inspect the condition of safety management facilities such as life-saving boats and hazard markers, and plan to proceed with new installations and repairs in cooperation with Mokpo Maritime Affairs Office and local governments.
Additionally, through risk assessments including accident history analysis, they intend to designate new hazardous areas or lift existing designations to readjust the zones.
