At 3:30 p.m. that day, Shin Young-hee, the warrant judge in charge at the Seoul Central District Court, will conduct a detention hearing for Choi on charges of murder. Choi's detention decision is expected to be made that night.
Choi is accused of calling his girlfriend to the rooftop of a building near Gangnam Station on Seoul Subway Line 2 at around 5 p.m. on the 6th, and stabbing her multiple times with a weapon, killing her.
The police initially responded to a report that "a man was about to jump from the rooftop" and pulled Choi out. After hearing his statement that he left a bag containing drugs, they re-examined the scene, found the victim, and urgently arrested Choi.
The police also identified circumstances indicating that Choi prepared for the crime in advance, such as purchasing the weapon at a large supermarket in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, two hours before the crime and calling the victim out.
