Which Country Owns the World's Longest '140m' Baguette?
France has reclaimed the record for the 'world's longest baguette' after more than five years.
The British daily The Guardian reported on the 5th (local time) that 12 French bakers baked a 140.53m long baguette in 14 hours.
The authorities of the city of Shiren near Paris announced the record-breaking news through their social media (SNS) account, stating, "The world's longest baguette record has been broken."
Previously, the record for the world's longest baguette was held by Italy. Bakers in Como, Italy, set the world record in 2019 by making a 132.62m baguette.
According to The Guardian, the French bakers started kneading the dough at 3 a.m. to break this record. It was predicted that to set the record, the baguette had to be baked at a minimum thickness of 5cm, and baking alone would take 8 hours.
In France, it is known that about 320 baguettes are sold every second. Although it is the 'national bread' representing France, the country had its pride hurt as Italy took the title of the world's longest baguette twice, in 2015 and 2019.
