Busan City Announces Contest for 'This Year's Exemplary Companies in Gender Employment Equality'
Two Model Companies Leading the Way in Improving Discriminatory Systems and Practices Recognized and Awarded
Companies with Over 2 Years of Residency and More Than 20 Employees (At Least 30% Female Workforce)
Busan City is conducting a call for applications for the ‘2024 Exemplary Companies for Gender Equality in Employment’ until May 17.
This call aims to create an employment environment where women can work to their full potential without gender discrimination and to promote awareness of gender equality in employment.
The city plans to discover and award exemplary companies that take the lead in improving discriminatory systems or practices through this call.
The eligibility criteria for applying as an ‘Exemplary Company for Gender Equality in Employment’ are companies that have been established in the Busan area for more than 2 years, have 20 or more employees, and have at least 30% female workforce, regardless of industry or size. However, companies that fall under exclusion criteria will be restricted from eligibility. Detailed information on exclusion criteria can be found in the city’s official announcement on the website.
Interested companies can refer to the announcement on the city website and apply by mail (Women and Family Division) or email by May 17.
Once applications are received, a review by a panel of experts will be conducted, and the final two companies will be selected by the official evaluation committee. Awards will be presented at the ‘Gender Equality Week Ceremony’ scheduled for September.
Selected companies will receive a plaque of commendation and a certification plaque (valid for 3 years), and will have the opportunity to be recommended as excellent companies by the city thereafter.
If selected as an excellent company, they will receive preferential treatment and benefits such as special support for SME operating and development funds, credit guarantee exceptions, and priority support for participation in overseas exhibitions.
Woo Mi-ok, Director of the Women and Family Bureau of the city, stated, “Our city will do its best to create a gender-equal employment environment and foster a social atmosphere that supports work-family balance by sharing the best practices of ‘Exemplary Companies for Gender Equality in Employment’ with other companies.”
