German Foreign Ministry: "Russia's Cyberattacks on German Politics... Unacceptable"
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated that the entity attempting to infiltrate networks of several parties including the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) last March was Russia, and said, "This is an unacceptable act and will be met with consequences," according to major foreign media reports on the 3rd.
According to the reports, Minister Baerbock, who is visiting Australia to meet with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, told reporters in Adelaide, Australia on the same day, "It has become clear that last year's cyberattack was carried out by the hacker group APT28 controlled by the Russian military intelligence agency (GRU)," and made the statement.
Minister Baerbock, visiting Australia for talks with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, elaborated, "This means that Russian state hackers attacked Germany in cyberspace."
