Busan Office of Education Eliminates Childcare Gaps for Parents During School Vacations
Announcement of 'Neulbom Summer School' Operation Plan During Vacation
Providing High-Quality Neulbom Services in Two Types
To address the childcare gap during school vacations, which parents find most challenging when raising their children, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is taking action.
On the 2nd, at the Busan Student Arts and Culture Center, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced at the ‘Superintendent-Parents Neulbom Talk Concert’ that it will operate the ‘Neulbom Summer School’ at all elementary schools during the summer vacation.
The ‘Neulbom Summer School’ aims to provide continuous high-quality care Neulbom and learning-type Neulbom even during vacations, and will be operated in two types: ‘Hub-type’ and ‘School-autonomous type.’
The ‘Hub-type Neulbom Summer School’ is part of the Education Development Special Zone project to promote balanced educational development, targeting schools designated for educational balance development in the Western Busan area and schools addressing educational gaps within the jurisdictions of the Southern, Dongnae, and Haeundae Offices of Education.
For first-grade elementary students, it will provide care-type Neulbom and 5 hours of learning-type Neulbom, including 2 hours of free learning, from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., throughout August.
Quality programs favored by students will be prepared, and snacks, lunch, as well as transportation services will be supported. Hub-type schools will only provide space and will not bear additional administrative burdens.
The ‘School-autonomous Neulbom Summer School’ will be operated for all elementary schools during the same period and hours as the hub-type. Snacks and lunch will be provided considering each school’s circumstances.
An official from the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education said that parents participating in the talk concert welcomed the operation of the ‘Neulbom Summer School’ as it eased their concerns about their children’s lunch and care during the vacation.
