Dolphin Design T-Shirts Supplied to Over 1,500 Units at 35 Daycares in Seongbuk-gu
Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) and the Seoul Fashion Textile Sewing Association (President Yoo Ji-yong), jointly operating the Seongbuk Smart Fashion Industry Center, planned the production of design T-shirts in collaboration with the Seongbuk-gu Public and Private Daycare Center Association to commemorate Children's Day.
The design T-shirts were entirely processed by small-scale fashion sewing businesses in Seongbuk-gu. To enhance the quality and price competitiveness of "Made in Seongbuk," the state-of-the-art smart manufacturing system within the Seongbuk Smart Fashion Industry Center was actively utilized. Approximately 1,500 completed T-shirts will be supplied as uniforms to 35 daycare centers in Seongbuk-gu.
Notably, this year's uniform design involved the design team of the emerging designer brand "Machine" from the Seongbuk-gu Youth Startup Cube. Reflecting interest in climate change and eco-friendliness, a dolphin character design was proposed and ultimately selected through a design evaluation meeting.
The dolphin T-shirts, which children will wear during this Children's Day event, are made from functional fabric with "moisture absorption and quick-drying" properties that absorb sweat and moisture well and release it quickly, maintaining comfort even during extended activities. Additionally, to reflect the individuality of each daycare center and allow free choice, five pastel colors are available, and sizing has been expanded by body type to accommodate children aged 1 to 3 years, pre-school children, and teachers, allowing orders in necessary quantities.
The production of Children's Day commemorative T-shirts in Seongbuk-gu is an ongoing joint production project where consumers, producers, designers, and the Seongbuk Smart Fashion Industry Center collaboratively decide on design, materials, patterns, and supply prices.
Yoo Ji-yong of the Seoul Fashion Textile Sewing Association stated, "The uniform business of local public institutions is a meaningful B2G business model that can connect small-scale fashion sewing businesses with work opportunities. It will help revitalize the garment sewing industry, which is increasingly struggling due to competition from low-quality, cheap Chinese-made clothing." He added, "In the future, we want to expand the business area not only to uniform production but also to goods item development, opening opportunities for small-scale fashion sewing businesses with manufacturing competitiveness."
