Ulsan Tap Water Quality 'Thumbs Up'... Hoeya and Cheonsang Water Treatment Plants Renew ISO Certification in 4 Areas
Ulsan Hoeya Water Purification Plant and Cheonsang Water Purification Plant have renewed their International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certifications, recognizing the quality of tap water.
The Ulsan Waterworks Headquarters announced on the 2nd that the two purification plants renewed ISO certifications in four areas.
Hoeya and Cheonsang Water Purification Plants recently renewed their integrated surveillance ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), 14001 (Environmental Management System), 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System), and Food Safety Management System (ISO 22000) certifications for tap water production at purification plants from the Korea Certification Institute (KCR).
ISO certification is a system where an accredited certification body certifies that the target institution or company produces, maintains, and manages products according to international standards and related regulations in each field.
Hoeya and Cheonsang Water Purification Plants first obtained certification for the Environmental Management System, followed by Quality, Occupational Health and Safety, and Food Safety Management Systems.
They continuously pass annual surveillance audits, externally validating the excellence of Ulsan’s tap water.
An official from Ulsan City stated, “With this integrated renewal of ISO certification for tap water production, we will strictly manage all processes of tap water production so that citizens can trust and safely consume the water, supplying the highest quality tap water.”

Hoeya Water Purification Plant supplies tap water to Nam-gu (excluding part of Mugeo-dong), Dong-gu, parts of Buk-gu (Yangjeong-dong, Yeompo-dong), and Ulju-gun (Onsan-eup, Onyang-eup, Cheongnyang-eup, Seosaeng-myeon, Ungchon-myeon), while Cheonsang Water Purification Plant supplies tap water to Jung-gu, Buk-gu, and Ulju-gun (Beomseo-eup, Eonyang-eup, Samnam-eup, Dudong-myeon, Duseo-myeon, Sangbuk-myeon, Samdong-myeon).
