View original imageJongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) will hold the 'Our Neighborhood Concert' with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra on the 17th of this month at 7:30 PM at the Doam Hall of the Seoul Arts Center (70 Pyeongchangmunhwa-ro).
Hosted by Jongno-gu and organized by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, the concert will feature programs such as Elgar's 'Cello Concerto in E minor, 4th Movement' and Anton?n Dvo??k's 'Symphony No. 9 From the New World.' In addition to the performance, friendly commentary will be provided to help the audience better understand the music.
The conductor will be David Lee, the associate conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and a graduate of the orchestra conducting master's program at Yale University. The soloist will be cellist Joo Yeon-seon, a professor in the Department of Music at Chung-Ang University College of Arts. Admission is free for all seats, and the performance lasts 70 minutes. The Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra has grown by presenting a wide repertoire under the leadership of former artistic director and conductor Myung-Whun Chung since becoming an independent foundation in 2005. Following the world-renowned Finnish conductor Osmo V?nsk?, the music director position has been held since this year by Dutch conductor Jaap van Zweden, who is also the music director of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
