Park Hee-young, Yongsan District Mayor, Inspects Stormwater Drain Dredging for Flood and Wind Disaster Preparedness
Third Participation in Drainage Dredging at Yongmun Market and Bogwang Market Road near Icheon 2-dong Jungsan Sibeom Apartments at 9:30 AM on the 30th... Preventing Flood Damage in Aging Residential Areas
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan District, visited the site of the stormwater drain dredging operation in the Ichon 2-dong area at 9:30 a.m. on the 30th to prepare for flood and storm damage.
The district carried out dredging work on Ichon-ro, which borders the Yongsan International Business District development site, as well as on nearby side streets. The operation involved dredging vehicles, garbage suction machines, a sewage task force of four members, four dredging workers, and one traffic controller.
Mayor Park had also personally participated in dredging and cleaning of stormwater drains at Yungmun Market (March 29) and Bokwang Market Street (April 8).
Since last month, the district has been conducting sewer pipe cleaning and installing odor-blocking devices in areas with frequent sediment accumulation and complaints to prevent flood damage and reduce odors during the summer storm season.
By May 15, when the full-scale flood and storm damage prevention period begins, the district plans to complete dredging of 17,874 stormwater drains and install odor-blocking devices in complaint-prone areas.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan District, said, “Before apartments were built in the Ichon-dong area, there was a wide sandy beach here, so when the Han River water level rose, this area suffered flood damage. We will make every effort to prepare for flood and storm damage so that residents living in aging residential areas can feel safe.”
