Damyang Rural Agricultural Corporation Holds '2024 Water Management Field Briefing'
The Korea Rural Community Corporation Damyang Branch (Branch Manager Kim Geon-gyeong) announced on the 26th that it held the ‘2024 Water Management Field Briefing’ on the 25th to strengthen the foundation of water management governance.
The briefing was held at the Damyang-gun Agricultural Technology Center and was attended by about 100 local farmers, operating representatives, and irrigation facility monitors.
The water management briefing is being promoted to raise awareness of the importance of water management amid difficulties in agriculture caused by rapid climate changes such as droughts and floods.
The 2024 water management plan and newly launched projects were explained. In particular, safety education for irrigation facility monitors and training on the use of meteorological information by the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration were additionally conducted to strengthen the monitors’ safety awareness and prepare for disasters and emergencies.
It is evaluated that the briefing activated channels for exchange and cooperation between farmers and local governments, fostered appreciation for water and affection for irrigation facilities, and solidified the Corporation’s role as a specialized water management institution.
Kim Geon-gyeong, Branch Manager of Damyang, said, “As the risk of flood disasters has increased this year, we will strive to reduce disaster damage through proactive response,” and added, “We will faithfully fulfill the duties and roles of the Korea Rural Community Corporation as a specialized water management institution.”
