115-Year History 'Suwon Fire Station Old Site' Plaque Installation
A commemorative plaque has been installed at the site of the 'Old Suwon Fire Station,' which boasts a history of 115 years.
The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 21st that they installed the 'Old Site Plaque' on the 19th to widely inform residents about the Old Suwon Fire Station, the oldest fire station in Gyeonggi-do, and to honor the history of firefighting.
The Suwon Fire Station, proud of its 115-year history, opened the modern firefighting era in 1909 by establishing firefighting units following Incheon and Kaesong, which were part of the Gyeonggi-do region at the time. After liberation, on May 1, 1947, during the US military government period, the Suwon Fire Station finally opened as the first fire station under the Gyeonggi-do Fire Department in the Gyeonggi-do area.
