TEPCO stated that, ahead of the ocean discharge of contaminated water treated by the Advanced Liquid Processing System (ALPS), samples were taken from tanks used for measurement and verification, and analysis confirmed that the standards were met.
TEPCO has planned to discharge a total of 54,600 tons of contaminated water over seven times during the 2024 fiscal year (April 2024 to March 2025). The first discharge of this cycle is scheduled to continue until May 7, with each discharge amount remaining the same as before at 7,800 tons, according to Kyodo News.
