LG Chem announced on the 8th that it held the launch ceremony for the second cohort of We Are Green Heroes, marking the official start of activities for the youth activists.
We Are Green Heroes is a project initiated last year by LG Chem in collaboration with the Community Chest of Korea, Good Neighbors Seoul Regional Headquarters, and the youth education social cooperative Seed Corp to nurture child and adolescent environmental activists.
The second cohort consists of 40 students, ranging from upper elementary school to second-year middle school, who applied with an interest in biodiversity conservation.
This year, the activists will engage in activities such as ▲exploration and experiential activities including visits to UNESCO biosphere reserves ▲operating the Bamseom Island Protection Festival and campaigns at the Bamseom Ecological Experience Center and Yeouido Hangang Park ▲receiving education to develop expertise in biodiversity through special lectures by experts and their own workbooks.
While the first cohort focused on raising awareness and practicing biodiversity conservation, the goal for the second cohort is to grow as proactive and voluntary youth leaders. Divided into teams, they will identify environmental issues themselves and connect their efforts to solutions by producing goods for endangered species protection, conducting campaigns, and distributing research reports.
