Haman-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 8th that the 13 finalists for the ‘15th Haman Virgin Boatman National Singing Contest,’ scheduled to be held at 7 p.m. on the 26th at the special stage of Haman Public Stadium, have been confirmed.
The preliminary round was held on the 7th from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the multipurpose hall of Haman Culture and Arts Center, attracting 253 participants from all over the country, creating a great atmosphere.
The 13 teams finally selected will showcase passionate performances at the ‘15th Haman Virgin Boatman National Singing Contest,’ hosted by MCs Oh Dae-woong and Ha Myung-ji. Popular singers such as Mai Jin, Jo Hang-jo, Kang Hye-yeon, Enix, and Lady T will appear to further elevate the excitement of the contest.
In the finals, cash prizes and plaques will be awarded as follows: Grand Prize 10 million won, Gold Prize 5 million won, Silver Prize 3 million won, Bronze Prize 2 million won, Encouragement Prize 1.5 million won, and Popularity Prize 1 million won. The winners of the Grand Prize and Gold Prize will also receive a singer certification from the Korea Federation of Entertainment Artists.

Meanwhile, the popular folk song ‘Virgin Boatman’ was written by Yoon Bu-gil, the father of singers Yoon Hang-gi and Yoon Bok-hee, who led a traveling troupe to Haman in 1952. He composed the lyrics after hearing the poignant story of a maiden who rowed a ferry boat across the Akyang ferry dock in Beopsu-myeon. The county has been holding this singing contest since 2007 to commemorate this.
