A man in his 20s arrested for stealing valuables from closed shops nationwide
Theft of 67 items and 13 million KRW in cash in Cheonan, Seoul, and Gyeonggi
A man in his 20s was arrested for breaking into a commercial building late at night after business hours.
On the 8th, the Cheonan Seobuk Police Station announced that they had arrested Mr. A (in his 20s) on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (theft) after he attempted to steal valuables from a commercial building in Buldang-dong, Cheonan City on the 29th of last month but fled when a security company's alarm was triggered.
Mr. A is suspected of breaking into commercial buildings with the lights off by destroying the doors at night across various regions including Seoul, Gyeonggi, Daejeon, Busan, Daegu, Gyeongnam, Gwangju, Jeonbuk, and Chungnam between the 15th and 29th of last month, stealing cash and other items worth approximately 13 million won over 67 incidents.
Investigations revealed that Mr. A was unemployed and committed these crimes to cover living expenses.
