Gangseo-gu Produces Elementary School Enrollment Guide Video... "Subtitles in 4 Languages for Multicultural Families"
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) announced on the 8th that it has produced the "Elementary School Admission Guide Video for Multicultural Family Parents," the first of its kind among Seoul's autonomous districts, and released it on the Gangseo-gu Family Center website and official YouTube channel.
This initiative was inspired by the fact that multicultural family children face many detailed concerns such as academic schedules and study supplies due to communication issues during the process of entering elementary school. It reflects the reality that 10,460 multicultural families (as of 2022) reside in Gangseo-gu alone, with 2,192 children.
The district organized the video into six thematic sections to help multicultural families easily adapt to school life: preparation for first grade admission, how to install school-related applications (apps), school life and schedules, school-related terminology, communicating with homeroom teachers, and introduction to child-related institutions in Gangseo-gu.
The video introduces essential information to know before admission, such as Korea’s education system, school assignment procedures, and necessary supplies, as well as the main functions and usage methods of school apps like HiClass, e-Alimi, School Together, and School Bell. It also covers major events such as field trips and open class days, and the methods and procedures for consulting with homeroom teachers. Each episode is 6 to 10 minutes long and is produced with subtitles in Korean, English, Chinese, and Vietnamese.
