At 5:30 PM on the 6th, Five Young Artist Teams Perform 'Cherry Blossom Ending Concert', Weekday Busking Continues... Thorough Safety Measures in Place
Leaving behind the late-blooming cherry blossom buds, Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) ‘Hosoo Cherry Blossom Festival’ concluded successfully, attracting a crowd of one million people over five days.
However, visitors to Seokchon Lake can expect to enjoy the lakeside’s light pink spring atmosphere until the blossoms fall.
A district official shared the on-site atmosphere, saying, “As the blooming rate increases, the cherry blossom-covered lake is becoming more beautiful day by day.” The district will continue to enhance attractions and strengthen safety measures so that visitors can enjoy the flowers throughout the blooming period even after the festival ends.
First, an outdoor performance suitable for spring has been prepared on the waterside stage of Seokchon Lake’s East Lake. On the 6th at 5:30 PM, the ‘Cherry Blossom Ending Concert,’ featuring young artists’ beautiful spring and cherry blossom stories, will soothe the regret of the falling blossoms. Five young artist groups from various fields will perform in a relay, including the traditional Korean and Western music crossover group ‘Geokkuro Project’ and the brass ensemble ‘Boombeat Brass Band,’ creating a distinctive lineup. Enjoy the wonderful melodies and satisfy your senses amidst the fluttering cherry blossom petals.
Until the 5th, on weekdays, a busking stage by local art clubs will be held at the same location from 5 PM for two hours. Against the backdrop of the fully bloomed cherry blossoms at dusk by the lake, visitors can experience relaxation and romance through diverse performances such as saxophone, acoustic guitar, and theater.
Additionally, at the Cultural Experiment Space Hosoo (West Lake), the ‘2024. Lake and Spring’ program offers various cultural and artistic experiences including planned exhibitions, hands-on programs, performances, and art markets, making it worth noting.
Moreover, the district will keep the white lighting, the highlight of the lake’s night view this spring, on until the blossoms fall. Visitors can enjoy the spectacular scene of about 1,100 cherry trees along the waterside glowing pure white for a longer time during the dark nights. Other attractions such as the LED ‘Cherry Blossom Gate’ at the East Lake entrance and the district character ‘Haha Hoho Photo Zone’ scattered around the lake will also be extended to enhance the viewing experience.
Meanwhile, the district is fully committed to safety management in anticipation of crowds during the blooming period. About 100 safety management personnel will be deployed daily, comparable to the festival period, to maintain orderly crowd flow on the walking paths and prevent safety accidents such as collisions.
The CCTV Integrated Control Center will conduct 24-hour intensive monitoring using a multi-crowd convergence analysis platform. In case of sudden crowd congestion or emergencies, the situation will be immediately communicated to related agencies such as police, fire department, and subway stations to secure the golden time and enhance initial response capabilities.
