'Early ON Donghaeng Festival' Plays Key Role as Prelude to Main Festival... 63.1 Billion KRW in Sales
Consumption Festival Event Hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups
Prior to the May 'Donghaeng Festival,' the 'Early ON Donghaeng Festival,' which was held mainly online, was successfully concluded.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 3rd that the 'Early ON Donghaeng Festival,' held throughout March, recorded total sales of 63.1 billion KRW. The Donghaeng Festival is a nationwide large-scale win-win consumption promotion event organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Small Enterprise and Market Service to stimulate consumption.
In terms of detailed sales, support was provided to expand sales for small and micro businesses through 35 online channels including 11st, Wemakeprice, Naver Shopping, Gongyoung Home Shopping, live commerce, and Baedal Minjok (60.8 billion KRW), as well as offline channels such as the Happy Department Store special planning exhibition and three Panpan Duty-Free Shops (2.3 billion KRW).
The 'Early ON Donghaeng Festival' was an online-centered event held ahead of the May 'Donghaeng Festival.' It was planned with key concepts such as 'New Semester Preparation' and 'Spring Cleaning and Home Decoration,' targeting the early spring season when new beginnings like school admissions mainly occur. A total of 39 channels participated, featuring over 1,700 products from small and micro businesses.
Looking at specific cases, 'Losdos,' which sells self-produced natural pearl silver necklaces, recorded sales of 35 million KRW, a 210% increase compared to the previous month, through coupon discounts on Zigzag, a vertical commerce platform in the fashion category.
'JL&,' a company specializing in skin wound and scar treatment products, achieved daily sales of 8.7 million KRW through a non-food deal special on TMON, generating total sales of 16 million KRW during the participation period in online special exhibitions. 'Foodjoa,' a rice seller, participated in live commerce and achieved sales of 101 million KRW through a one-hour exclusive broadcast.
Won Young-jun, Director of the Small Business Policy Office, said, “Despite the difficult economic situation, we achieved meaningful sales figures,” and added, “We will prepare well to continue the momentum of Early ON in the upcoming May Donghaeng Festival (May 1?May 28).”

Meanwhile, the public recruitment for companies participating in the May Donghaeng Festival (200 companies), which closed on March 26, attracted a total of 956 companies, recording a competition rate of 4.78 to 1.
