The Cheonan Dongnam Police Station in Chungnam announced on the 2nd that they have detained a man in his 20s, Mr. A, on charges of fraud.
Mr. A is accused of visiting a jewelry store in Cheonan on the 12th of last month, deceiving the store by claiming a gold-plated bracelet was pure gold, and receiving 14.95 million won, equivalent to the price of 45 don of pure gold.
The store owner, Mr. B, did not suspect anything because the detailed engravings verifying the weight and purity of the bracelet requested by Mr. A were indistinguishable from those of pure gold, but later realized it was plated and reported it to the police.
The police tracked surrounding CCTV footage and arrested Mr. A at a motel in Seoul.
