Support Available under Traditional Market Act Including Onnuri Gift Certificate Merchant Registration
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk has additionally designated 'Mido Plaza' located in Doryang-dong and 'Gaenari Complex Shopping Center' located in Songjeong-dong as alley-type shopping districts.
An alley-type shopping district can be designated when there are 25 or more stores operated by small business owners within an area of 2,000㎡ or less in commercial zones, or 20 or more in non-commercial zones. Once designated as an alley-type shopping district, it can receive support equivalent to traditional markets under the 'Special Act on Traditional Markets.'
The newly designated 'Mido Plaza' and 'Gaenari Complex Shopping Center' have qualified for registration as Onnuri gift certificate affiliated stores and for applying to national and provincial government-funded projects such as management and facility modernization projects, which is expected to help revitalize the commercial area and increase sales.
Following last year's designation of 'Jungang-ro Dongmun Shopping District' as the first alley-type shopping district in Gyeongbuk, Gumi City has expanded to a total of three locations by additionally designating 'Mido Plaza' and 'Gaenari Complex Shopping Center,' making it the only city in Gyeongbuk to designate alley-type shopping districts.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, "I hope this designation will be a good opportunity for small-scale alley commercial areas to secure competitiveness, and we will continue to discover and nurture distinctive alley commercial areas to lead regional economic revitalization."
