Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) is constructing the ‘Gongdeok Silppuri Welfare Center’ within the Cross City Happy Housing complex in Gongdeok-dong, aiming to open it by the end of April this year. The fitness center will be located on the basement first floor and will be open to residents along with the Silppuri Welfare Center.
The ‘Silppuri Welfare Center’ is a complex facility designed to deliver closer and more detailed customized welfare services to Mapo residents, like fine roots.
Based on an integrated welfare center used by everyone from children to adults, the district plans to reflect local characteristics and welfare conditions by attracting necessary facilities such as ▲Our Neighborhood Care Center ▲Kids Cafe ▲Youth Study Cafe ▲Elders’ Meal Hall Senior Center ▲Elders’ Boarding Senior Center, and intends to operate at least one facility per neighborhood in the future.
The first to open, the ‘Gongdeok Silppuri Welfare Center,’ has a total floor area of 1,274.66㎡ (from basement level 1 to ground level 1). On the ground floor, the ‘Happy Companion House for the Disabled’ (a daytime care facility for the disabled) is currently operating, and the basement floor will complete the ‘Anyone’s Cultural Creation Studio,’ ‘Elders’ Meal Hall Senior Center,’ and the fitness center, which will begin operation by the end of next month.
The fitness center at Gongdeok Silppuri Welfare Center is planned to operate as an exercise facility freely accessible to all residents at any time, with operating hours from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. (weekends and holidays: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) every day of the year.
With a total area of 337.57㎡, it is equipped with ▲a fitness room ▲instructor’s room ▲group exercise room (GX room) ▲changing rooms ▲men’s and women’s shower rooms, and features 15 types of the latest exercise equipment such as ▲strength training bicycles ▲treadmills ▲bench presses, enabling personalized workouts.
The district plans to hire a total of four physical education instructors certified as lifestyle sports instructors to assist with facility and equipment use, and invite professional instructors to operate various programs such as ▲yoga ▲dance ▲pilates ▲spinning that everyone, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “The Silppuri Welfare Center is a hub that realizes community-tailored welfare that everyone can enjoy, including socially vulnerable residents such as the elderly, children, and the disabled. In particular, we will strengthen support in areas that determine quality of life such as health, care, and education to make Mapo-gu a better place for all to live.”
