Xi Jinping Meets with US Business Leaders: "US and China Must Be Mutually Beneficial"
Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the necessity of cooperation between the two countries to key figures in the U.S. economic and academic sectors.
According to China Central Television (CCTV), President Xi met with a delegation of representatives from the U.S. business and strategic academic communities on the morning of the 27th at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. He stated, "China's economy is healthy and sustainable," adding, "Last year, China's economic growth rate was the highest among major countries worldwide and contributed more than 30% to global economic growth." He further emphasized, "The prospects for China's development are bright," and "We have strength and confidence."
Having promised to expand openness when meeting U.S. businesspeople in San Francisco last November, President Xi once again pledged on this day to "provide broader development space for companies from all countries, including the United States," actively seeking foreign direct investment.
He also stressed stabilization and cooperation in U.S.-China relations. Referring to the resumption of communication in various fields following the U.S.-China summit last November, President Xi said, "In the current situation, the common interests between China and the United States have not decreased but increased," emphasizing, "Whether in traditional areas such as economy, trade, and agriculture or emerging fields like climate change and artificial intelligence (AI), China and the United States should help each other's development rather than hinder it."
