Temporary Memorial Erected at Accident Site
A 3-month-old baby who died in a traffic accident saved new lives through organ donation before passing away. On the 24th (local time), foreign media including Fox 2 KTVU reported that on the 16th, a Mercedes-Benz SUV crashed into a family of four at a bus stop in West Portal, San Francisco.
In this accident, the father (40) and the eldest son (1) of the victim family died at the scene.

The severely injured mother (38) was taken to the hospital but ultimately passed away the day after the accident. The second son, who was 3 months old, was seriously injured and transported to the hospital. He received treatment while hovering between life and death but passed away on the 20th. Amid their grief, the bereaved family decided to donate the organs of the 3-month-old baby according to the family’s usual beliefs. The family said, "The baby’s organs will help save the lives of other children."

The four family members who died were reportedly planning to visit the zoo and enjoy a nearby trip to celebrate the couple’s wedding anniversary, adding to the tragedy. A memorial gathering was held at the accident site on the 18th, followed by the erection of a temporary memorial to honor the family. London Breed, Mayor of San Francisco, and Bill Scott, Chief of the San Francisco Police Department, also visited the site to pay their respects, and nearby residents expressed their condolences by placing flowers and dolls there.

The Mercedes-Benz driver (78) who caused the accident was arrested on charges including vehicular manslaughter, driving the wrong way, and speeding. He was taken to the hospital immediately after the accident for treatment and has since been discharged.
