Yeosu City Promotes 'Hometown Love Donation Program' at Yeongchwisan Azalea Festival
Exhibition and Tasting Event of Representative Return Gifts Held
Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) operated a hometown love donation promotion booth at the ‘32nd Yeosu Yeongchwisan Azalea Festival’ held on the 23rd and 24th, accelerating the activation of the donation system.
On this day, the city distributed donation guides and promotional materials to tourists visiting the Yeongchwisan Azalea Festival, Yeosu's representative spring flower festival, informing them about the benefits and methods of the hometown love donation system and encouraging donations.
In addition, local representative thank-you gifts were exhibited, and through tasting events, efforts were made to promote Yeosu’s representative specialties such as Gatkimchi, dried seafood, and corn.
Cha Ju-min, head of the collection department, said, “We are pleased to introduce the hometown love donation system and local representative thank-you gifts to tourists visiting from all over the country,” adding, “In the future, we will strive to promote the hometown love donation system not only at local events but also nationwide.”
Meanwhile, the hometown love donation system is a program implemented from January 1, 2023, aimed at fostering a healthy donation culture for one’s hometown and revitalizing the local economy.

Donations of up to 5 million KRW per year can be made to one’s hometown (local government) excluding the address of residence, with a full tax deduction up to 100,000 KRW and a 16.5% tax credit on the amount exceeding 100,000 KRW. Donors can also receive local specialties worth up to 30% of the donation amount.
