Average Wealth of Gyeonggi General Election Candidates Exceeds 5 Billion KRW... Kim Bokdeok, Ahn Cheolsoo, and Others
Among 146 Candidates, 21 with 'Over 5 Billion'
The average assets of candidates running in the Gyeonggi region for the April 10 general election were found to exceed 5 billion KRW.
According to the National Election Commission on the 22nd, the average declared assets of 146 candidates in the Gyeonggi region who completed registration by 7 p.m. that day amounted to approximately 5.21579 billion KRW.
There are 21 candidates who registered assets exceeding 5 billion KRW.
The candidate who declared the highest assets is Kim Bok-deok of the People Power Party, running in Bucheon Gap, with 144.667487 billion KRW. This is Kim’s first election, and until June last year, he served as the CEO of Solux, a lighting company listed on KOSDAQ.
Following him is Ahn Cheol-soo of the People Power Party, running in Bundang Gap, who declared 140.135485 billion KRW, ranking second.
Only these two candidates declared assets exceeding 100 billion KRW among the general election candidates in the province.
Excluding these two candidates, the average assets of candidates in the Gyeonggi region amount to approximately 3.32357 billion KRW, which is about 1.89 billion KRW less.
Besides these two, 19 other candidates, including Lee Won-mo of the People Power Party running in Yongin Gap, were found to possess assets exceeding 5 billion KRW.
There are 13 candidates with assets ranging from 3 billion KRW to less than 5 billion KRW, including Jang Seong-min of the People Power Party in Ansan Gap, Jo Eung-cheon of the Reform New Party in Namyangju Gap, and Lee Geon-tae of the Democratic Party in Bucheon Byeong.
Two candidates declared 'negative' assets: Cha Ji-ho of the Democratic Party running in Osan City (-64.671 million KRW) and independent candidate Shin Sang-cheol running in Hwaseong Byeong (-5 million KRW).
Among candidates in the Gyeonggi region, none currently have outstanding tax arrears.

Over the past five years, the largest amount of tax arrears was by Jeong Pil-jae of the People Power Party running in Siheung Gap, with about 108.9 million KRW. Following him were independent candidate Kim Seong-nam running in Goyang Gap (about 64.28 million KRW) and Yang Moon-seok of the Democratic Party in Ansan Gap (about 3.37 million KRW).
