Muscular Arms Punching the Sandbag... President Macron Like a UFC Fighter
"Showing Political Muscle with Boxing Photos"
Critics Call It "Poor Political Communication"
French President Emmanuel Macron revealed a boxing photo that highlighted his muscular arms. Foreign media analyzed that by releasing a photo of martial arts, he intended to showcase political toughness, following the controversy sparked by his proposal to deploy troops to Ukraine.
On the 20th (local time), British media such as the BBC reported that Macron's official photographer Soazig de la Moissonniere posted the boxing photo of President Macron on Instagram the day before. In the released photo, President Macron is seen clenching his teeth, wearing boxing gloves, and punching a sandbag.

View original imageThis photo came out a few days after President Macron stirred controversy by mentioning the possibility of deploying ground troops to Ukraine again in a recent interview. On the 16th, Macron said in an interview with the French daily Le Parisien, "Perhaps someday we will need to conduct ground operations against Russian forces." However, he added, "I do not want that and will not take the lead" regarding the deployment of ground troops. Earlier, on the 26th of last month, Macron said, "There was no agreement on deploying ground troops," but also stated, "Nothing should be ruled out."
Foreign media linked the boxing photo to the troop deployment controversy, interpreting that President Macron aimed to demonstrate strength both physically and politically. A French media outlet reported that Macron "fixed his gaze on the sandbag as if determined to defeat his opponent," and that "the president, with bulging muscles and clenched teeth, looks like a real 'warrior,' evoking the tense recent news."
The BBC evaluated that President Macron "showcased political muscle with the boxing photo," stating, "He flexed his muscles for Ukraine and went a step further by showing strength with a photo of him punching a sandbag with his bulging biceps."
