Gyeonggi Province - Catalonia, Spain 25th Anniversary of Sisterhood Letter Exchange
Gyeonggi Province and Catalonia in Spain celebrated the 25th anniversary of their sisterhood.
On the 21st, Gyeonggi Province announced that Governor Kim Dong-yeon and Pere Aragones, President of Catalonia, exchanged congratulatory letters on the 25th anniversary of their sisterhood and agreed to further strengthen mutual cooperation.
In his letter, Governor Kim Dong-yeon stated, "The secret to maintaining our relationship for the past 25 years has been cooperation and mutual respect, and thanks to President Pere Aragones' visit to Gyeonggi Province last November, we were able to strengthen our ties even more."
He added, "Gyeonggi Province expects that joining the Emerging Digital Technology Alliance (DETA), led by Catalonia, will deepen the relationship between the two regions."

Based on the Agreement to Promote Exchange and Cooperation signed with Gyeonggi Province in 2021, we wish to continue our cooperative relationship. I hope to meet again in person through opportunities such as Governor Kim Dong-yeon's visit to Catalonia."
Gyeonggi Province and Catalonia established their sisterhood in March 1999 and have continued various cooperative activities. Despite face-to-face exchanges being limited due to COVID-19, in 2021, they signed an Agreement to Promote Exchange and Cooperation to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their sisterhood and held joint committee meetings via video conference to advance their relationship.
Notably, last November, Pere Aragones, President of Catalonia, visited Gyeonggi Province to discuss opportunities for exchange and cooperation across economy, culture, arts, and tourism.
Gyeonggi Province expects that this exchange of congratulatory letters will reaffirm the friendship between the two regions and serve as a great impetus for more active exchanges in the future.
