KenkoAir Signs Defense Contract with Brazil's Embraer
Kenkorea Aerospace announced on the 21st that it has signed a military transport aircraft parts supply contract worth 19.1 billion KRW with Brazil's Embraer.
This contract is part of the consortium project for the C-390 model, introduced as the second phase of the large transport aircraft project by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration in December last year. This contract corresponds to the first phase order, accounting for 25.17% of recent sales. The second phase contract is expected to be completed within this year, and additional defense projects with Embraer will be discussed.
The C-390 is operated by the air forces of Brazil and Portugal, and has been confirmed for adoption as a large transport aircraft by NATO member countries including Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, and the Czech Republic. As Asian and Middle Eastern countries are also considering its introduction, Kenkorea is expected to benefit from increased volume due to the expansion of C-390 adopting countries.
While global countries are rapidly increasing their defense budgets, the domestic defense industry has surpassed 110 trillion KRW in order backlog. Following last year, K-defense orders are expected to grow sharply this year as well, and Kenkorea is continuing its order rally following major domestic defense companies.
Based on this project, Kenkorea expects to actively enter the global defense sector and achieve record-high defense export performance every year. Going forward, it plans to expand cooperation with Embraer in the defense sector and strengthen its position in the global defense supply chain through active investment domestically.
