Ritec Launches New 1t Electric Spreader Equipped with Lithium-Ion Battery
Special vehicle manufacturer Ritec announced on the 19th that it has launched a new 1-ton electric spreader.
A spreader is equipment loaded on the back of a vehicle that automatically disperses de-icing sand, salt, or calcium chloride solution while driving on roads to prevent snow accumulation or freezing. The existing models operated with lead-acid batteries, but the new spreader uses lithium-ion batteries. It operates independently with its own battery, so it does not affect vehicle driving. Charging speed has increased, and working time has been extended.
Compared to existing spreaders, the company explained that it reduces operating current consumption by about 42%, allowing for more efficient use. The existing lead-acid batteries have a short lifespan of about 2 years and often self-discharge when not in use, whereas lithium-ion batteries have a longer lifespan of 10 years and less discharge, resulting in lower maintenance costs.

The control device and structure are simplified, making inspection and repair easier. With a motor variable control method, it is easy to adjust speed and rotation direction as desired. This reduces the amount of de-icing agent wasted during spreading. The existing products were integrated, making partial management difficult, but the new product uses a bolt fastening method for easy installation and partial maintenance. Chaekyungseon, CEO of Ritec, said, "We improved performance compared to existing products and extended working time by enabling independent operation with our own battery."
