Incheon Namdong-gu to Grant Special Leave for Employees from Multichild Families
Namdong-gu, Incheon announced on the 19th that it will provide special (reward) leave for employees from multi-child families as part of efforts to overcome the low birthrate crisis, which has emerged as a social issue.
The eligible employees are those from multi-child families with one or more minor children (three or more children), including those who have children born after the implementation date. The leave is granted once a year for one day on a preferred date before or after the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays, and eligible employees can use up to two days per year.
Park Jong-hyo, the district mayor, said, "Special leave is granted to employees from multi-child families to create a family-friendly working environment," adding, "We will continue to make efforts to establish measures to overcome the low birthrate crisis."
Meanwhile, Namdong-gu is the first in Incheon to promote support for postpartum care expenses for vulnerable childbirth families, pilot projects for early life health management, support for Korean medicine infertility treatment, and expanded support for improving the treatment of childcare staff.
Additionally, the district is taking the lead in overcoming the low birthrate crisis by repeatedly proposing related policy improvements to the government.
