Osan-si Launches Full-Scale Sewer Pipeline Maintenance Project
First Half Year Pipeline Maintenance in Eungye, Galgot, and Wondong
16 km of Sewage Pipelines to be Newly Installed by 2026
Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 19th that it will officially begin the separated sewer system improvement project for the combined sewer pipes in the area, which urgently need improvement due to odor issues, starting this year.
This project began design work in 2019 but was delayed due to budget shortages. However, the city explained that recent negotiations with the National Assembly and the Ministry of Environment secured national funding, making it possible to proceed with the project.
The city plans to invest a total project cost of 31.7 billion KRW, including 22.1 billion KRW in national subsidies, and has recently completed administrative procedures such as design and review.
Starting this month, the city will officially commence the project and plans to construct 16.01 km of new sewage pipelines and renovate drainage facilities for 1,312 households by 2026. In the first half of this year, the project will target Eungye-dong, Wondong, and Galkot-dong, and in the second half, it will be implemented in Osan-dong and Cheonghak-dong.
