"Walking is the Secret to Health!"... Jung-gu Recruiting Participants for Walking Health Instructor Training Course
Apply at the Health Center by April 12
Jung-gu, Seoul will operate a basic training course for health leaders from the 16th to the 30th of next month. This is to cultivate health leaders who will guide local residents in proper physical activities.
Upon completing the 16-hour basic course covering correct walking posture, warm-up exercises, stretching methods, and more, participants will be qualified to work as health leaders in Jung-gu. After completing the basic training and advanced training, they will be able to guide physical strength activities. Additionally, they will be eligible to obtain the "Walking Leader Level 2" certification awarded by the Korea Walking Association, a nonprofit organization.
Residents of Jung-gu who wish to become health leaders can apply by phone or visit a nearby public health center (Dasan, Yaksu, Hwanghak, Jungnim) by the 12th of next month.
Currently active health leaders are invigorating the community by leading programs such as the "9988 Senior Center Program" for elderly residents at senior centers, the "Blue Jeans School" for frail seniors, and "Walking Good Day!" where they walk together along the Namsan Dulle-gil trail every Thursday.
Meanwhile, according to the results of the "2023 Community Health Survey" jointly conducted by Jung-gu and Inje University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, the walking practice rate of Jung-gu residents was 66.6%, surpassing the Seoul average (63.5%) and the national average (48.1%). The physical activity practice rate was 29.0%, higher than the Seoul average (24.3%) and the national average (22.8%).
The district analyzes that this is due to the health mileage system implemented by Jung-gu, walking promotion policies through the training of health leaders, and the geographical advantage of being adjacent to Namsan.
