On the 12th, the registration of the 10 sites was confirmed through the Boseong-gun Local Cultural Heritage Protection Committee, and they will be registered as Boseong-gun local cultural heritage after a 30-day designation notice period.
After reviewing 15 submitted candidates, 10 sites were selected: Beolgyo Ochunggak, Jukcheonjeong, the filial son Moon Chan-seok's memorial gate, Jinju So clan's Samgangmun, Sanangjeong, Boseong Jeongsaje ancestral graveyard, Obongsa Temple, the birthplace of Obong Jeongsaje teacher, Yangsan Hangga Yeongmoje and Seokdol, and the traditional tea ceremony and tea set of the Boseong Jeju Yang clan Tongdeokrang branch.
This is a significant registration as it is the first in six years since 12 sites were designated in 2017.
Boseong-gun will issue designation certificates for the 10 heritage sites and establish systematic plans to conduct regular inspections and preservation management with utmost effort.
A Boseong-gun official stated, “We plan to continue discussions on the five sites whose designation was deferred through ongoing preservation and management,” and added, “We feel a strong responsibility for the discovery and management of many local cultural heritages in Boseong and will fulfill our role as descendants.”
