The county ranked first in the group with a population under 70,000.
It received high scores in most categories, especially praised for on-site visits to address corporate difficulties, achievements in resolving business challenges, discovery of national budgets to support small and medium-sized enterprises, and the level of interest from agency heads.
In particular, it was highly praised for the level of interest from agency heads.
Earlier, after taking office, Shim Deok-seop, the mayor of Gochang-gun, set "ESG corporate attraction" as a core goal and succeeded in attracting Samsung Electronics' state-of-the-art logistics center, the first in Jeonbuk, as well as semiconductor raw material manufacturer G-Tech Co., Ltd., and SB Food Co., Ltd., which produces oligosaccharides and starch syrup.
He also actively provided administrative support, such as revising related ordinances to offer various incentives to investment companies.
Additionally, since July last year, the county has been implementing the "One Company-One Public Official Dedicated System," which proactively resolves corporate difficulties and provides necessary information in advance.
This has greatly helped create a "business-friendly environment" by eliminating outdated regulations that hinder business management and linking finance and investment.
Jeonbuk Province has been promoting the "Evaluation of Cities and Counties Making Jeonbuk Business-Friendly" to share and spread excellent corporate support cases implemented in each city and county to foster a business-friendly environment.
The county selected as the best city/county in the 2023 performance evaluation will receive a financial incentive of 60 million KRW.
The financial incentive was doubled compared to last year to encourage the expansion and promotion of the One Company-One Public Official Dedicated System across all cities and counties.
Mayor Shim Deok-seop said, "With the successive investments from leading companies in the industry, Gochang is becoming known as a 'business-friendly city,'" adding, "We will continue to create a more substantial business environment so that Gochang-gun will be a worthy business partner."
He added, "I hope that continuous interest and many investments will be made in Gochang-gun."
