Russia "Detention of Koreans, Contact with Han... Considering Consular Visit"
Russia has announced that it is in close contact with South Korea regarding Baek Mo, a South Korean detained on espionage charges, and is considering granting consular visitation rights.
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated this during a briefing on the 13th (local time).

Regarding Baek's espionage charges, spokesperson Zakharova said, "Since Baek is suspected of acts corresponding to espionage, additional information on the investigation progress is confidential."
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) arrested Baek, who was working as a missionary in Vladivostok, Russia, on espionage charges last January. Baek is currently detained at the Lefortovo detention center in Moscow for further investigation.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the same day, Lee Do-hoon, South Korea's ambassador to Russia, met with Andrey Rudenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, and requested active cooperation to ensure the safety and protection of the rights of South Korean nationals.
