Gwangju Seo-gu, Ministry of the Interior and Safety Active Administration Comprehensive Evaluation 'Excellent' for 2 Consecutive Years
Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) has been selected as an excellent institution for two consecutive years in the '2024 (2023 performance) Comprehensive Evaluation of Proactive Administration by Local Governments' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
According to Seo-gu on the 13th, this evaluation was conducted on 243 local governments nationwide, assessing five major categories and 18 evaluation indicators including the establishment of proactive administration promotion plans, efforts to activate systems such as the selection of outstanding public officials, and the implementation, perception, and activation policies of proactive administration.
Seo-gu received favorable reviews as a good example of proactive administration for initiatives such as the 'Cheong·Ba·Ji Club operation,' which expands jobs utilizing the careers of retirees, the resident communication innovation platform 'Baro Munja Harangkke' that enables one-stop civil complaint resolution and also serves as a policy proposal window, and the 'Barefoot Path' where anyone can easily manage their health nearby.
Last year, to strengthen proactive administration, Seo-gu selected a total of 6 outstanding proactive administration public official teams twice a year, providing various incentives such as additional points in work performance evaluations and rewards to public officials who contributed to improving residents' convenience. Since last year, the proactive administration mileage system has been piloted and operated.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, "The efforts of employees who carried out proactive administration to improve the quality of life of residents have led to good results," and added, "We will continue to think more from the residents' perspective and strive to foster a culture of proactive administration in the public service."
