EU to Urge Additional Sanctions on North Korea at Next Week's Summit
Summit Meeting Held in Belgium on the 21st-22nd
At the EU summit of 27 member states scheduled for next week, additional sanctions related to North Korea's support for Russia are expected to be discussed.
According to major foreign media on the 12th (local time), the 27 leaders urged the EU Commission in the draft joint statement of the EU summit to be held in Brussels, Belgium on the 21st-22nd to prepare additional sanctions against Belarus, North Korea, and Iran.
Earlier, the Commission included North Korean Defense Minister Kang Sun-nam and the North Korean Missile General Bureau in the 13th package of sanctions against Russia announced on the 23rd of last month. This was the EU's first sanctions against North Korea related to the Ukraine war.
If additional sanctions are publicly demanded at this EU summit, follow-up measures are expected to be considered at the Commission level.
