On the morning of the 12th, Yoo Il-jun, the nomination management committee chairman of the People’s Future, stated before the interview screening held at the central party office in Yeouido, "The first criterion is morality," adding, "No matter how outstanding one’s abilities are, if they do not meet the morality standards that resonate with the public, they will be decisively excluded."
He continued, "The second is expertise," explaining, "We will evaluate the capabilities accumulated in their respective fields and consider how these capabilities can be reflected in legislative activities." He also cited vision and philosophy regarding national issues as the third criterion for nomination screening.
The People’s Future nomination committee accepted applications for proportional representation nominations from the 3rd to the 9th. A total of 530 candidates applied, including 331 men (62.5%) and 199 women (37.5%). This is a similar level to the 531 applicants for the Future Korea Party, a proportional satellite party created by the People Power Party’s predecessor, the United Future Party, in the 2020 21st general election. Excluding incumbent lawmakers and others, 497 candidates are subject to interviews. The screening will continue until the 14th.
