Kang Ho-dong, the newly appointed chairman of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NACF), emphasized, "In the face of the crisis in agriculture and rural areas, our NACF must solve problems through bold change and innovation."
On the 11th, Kang held an inauguration ceremony at the NACF headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, stating, "High inflation, high exchange rates, and high oil prices are putting pressure on the rural economy and farm management, and issues such as regional extinction and labor shortages in agriculture are also serious."

View original imageAt the inauguration, Chairman Kang declared "A New Korea NACF through Change and Innovation" as the new vision and said he would prioritize strengthening the competitiveness of agricultural and livestock cooperatives.
He said, "To transform the lifeless rural areas into vibrant ones, strengthening the competitiveness of agricultural and livestock cooperatives on the ground is most important," adding, "The NACF's profit-making businesses should generate more profits to be used to improve the economic and welfare levels of members."
Chairman Kang plans to focus the NACF's capabilities on enhancing the status of agricultural and livestock cooperatives and revitalizing their businesses. He explained, "We will reorganize the system so that all NACF projects are promoted from the perspective of farmer members and agricultural and livestock cooperatives," and "We will become an NACF that contributes to increasing the income of farmer members and improving their quality of life."
He will also promote innovation in production and distribution to increase agricultural income. Kang said, "If we maximize the synergy between our NACF's core competencies in finance and economic sectors, we can contribute to improving agricultural income by expanding distribution infrastructure using digital new technologies," and "We will expedite the spread of smart farms that small and medium-sized farms can utilize to solve aging and labor shortages."
In addition, as measures to realize the new vision, Chairman Kang decided to pursue ▲supporting the growth of agricultural and livestock cooperatives through innovation in the financial sector and enhancement of digital competitiveness ▲realizing a new NACF through future management and organizational culture innovation ▲expanding urban-rural exchanges and revitalizing the rural economy.
