Gwangju Nam-gu, Gwangju City Local Tax Administration Comprehensive Evaluation 'Overall Best'
Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, earned the title of the overall best institution in the '2023 Fiscal Year Local Tax Administration Comprehensive Evaluation' conducted by Gwangju City by achieving results such as discovering hidden tax sources and providing taxpayer-centered convenience.
According to Nam-gu on the 11th, Gwangju City conducted a comprehensive evaluation of local tax administration carried out by five autonomous districts in the Gwangju area throughout 2023 to improve local tax collection rates, reduce delinquent taxes, and promote the development of tax administration tasks.
This evaluation reflected four indicators in the local tax administration field, three indicators in the local tax delinquency field, and three indicators in the non-tax revenue field.
Nam-gu achieved the best performance among the autonomous districts in the local tax administration field, ranking first, and also recorded the highest score in the combined three fields.
The reason for being selected as the overall best institution was that despite the difficulties in local tax collection due to many small businesses in the district, it provided convenient local tax administration services centered on taxpayers and pursued efficient collection.
In particular, it promoted electronic delivery and electronic filing and payment services such as automatic transfers and card payments, operated a one-stop joint help center for local and national taxes, discovered omitted tax sources through corporate tax audits, and managed workplaces subject to resident tax payment to expand independent revenue sources.
With these efforts, Nam-gu received the highest score of 667 points among the five autonomous districts in Gwangju in the local tax administration field.
Additionally, to reduce local tax delinquencies, it undertook one-on-one dedicated collection targeting high-value delinquents owing more than 1 million won, successfully collecting 1.514 billion won in delinquent taxes from 457 high-value delinquency cases.
It also actively supported installment payments for livelihood-type delinquents, striving to realize fair tax administration.
Furthermore, in terms of expanding non-tax revenue, it focused on securing local tax sources by continuously monitoring delinquent amounts and conducting job training for responsible personnel through integrated management.
