New Coast Guard Rookie Officer Found Dead After Taking Firearm from Workplace
Found Inside a Car Parked at a Rest Area
A newly appointed police officer belonging to the Coast Guard, who took a firearm and live ammunition out of the workplace, was found dead.
According to the Coast Guard on the 8th, at around 10:38 a.m., Police Officer A (34) of the Sokcho Coast Guard Station was found dead at Yangyang Rest Area in Hyeonnam-myeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon Province. The police, who began a search following a missing person report from Officer A's family, found Officer A dead inside a car parked at the rest area.
It was reported that Officer A had left work around 2 p.m. the previous day and did not come to work or make contact on the day of discovery.
Officer A, who had been employed for less than three years, worked as a weapons and ammunition manager on a 1500-ton patrol vessel, and it was investigated that he took a firearm and live ammunition from the workplace.
