Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service "Continuous Guarantee of Workplace Safety"
390,000 New Enrollments in 5 Months After Abolition
Can only labor providers exclusively affiliated with one delivery company receive industrial accident insurance benefits? No.
A, who delivers food using multiple platforms, was involved in a traffic accident while delivering by motorcycle and faced financial difficulties, but since he was enrolled in industrial accident insurance, he received leave benefits from the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service during the treatment period.
The Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service (Director Park Jong-gil) has been improving and implementing the industrial accident insurance system for labor providers since July last year, allowing those who are not exclusively affiliated with a specific company but work for multiple companies to enroll in industrial accident insurance and work with peace of mind.
By completely abolishing the exclusivity requirement for industrial accident insurance labor providers, multi-job labor providers and workers engaged in unspecified multiple companies through online platforms have been incorporated into the protective net of industrial accident insurance.
Along with the improvement of the industrial accident insurance system, the scope of applicable occupations has been expanded to include tourist interpreters, children's school bus drivers, construction site freight truck owners, and all general freight truck owners. Within five months of implementation, the number of workers increased by about 385,000, achieving a total enrollment of 1.19 million.
Also, starting January 1 of this year, industrial accident insurance coverage has been expanded to include elementary and secondary after-school instructors, kindergarten after-school instructors, special activity program instructors at daycare centers, and credit union and Saemaeul Geumgo mutual aid recruiters.
