Suwon City to Reduce Household Waste by 13,564 Tons This Year
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province has set a goal to reduce the expected amount of household waste by 10% this year and declared a "Love and War with Garbage" campaign.
On the 8th, Suwon City announced that it has set a target to reduce 13,564 tons out of the expected 135,835 tons of household waste generated this year.
Suwon City established the following key initiatives: ▲I am the resource manager of my home (encouraging habitual separation and disposal through citizen participation education) ▲Operation of Suwon-style separation and disposal hub facilities ▲Disposable items, leave the Earth (support for using reusable containers, etc.) ▲It is time to save leftover food waste (campaign to reduce food waste) ▲Do not litter, yield to volume-based waste bags (crackdown on illegal dumping).
Additionally, the city plans to strengthen promotion of resource circulation policies to raise public awareness.

View original imageFurthermore, to practice carbon neutrality through habitual separation and disposal, the city will conduct visiting resource circulation policy briefings, recruit and operate neighborhood cleanliness volunteers, and promote collection rewards for used batteries and milk cartons at community welfare centers.
A Suwon city official stated, "For the success of love (activation of separation and disposal) and war (reduction of volume-based waste) with garbage to create a carbon-neutral city, Earth-friendly Suwon, citizen participation is urgently needed," and urged, "Please actively cooperate by properly separating waste and adhering to household waste disposal times (8 PM to 5 AM the next day)."
