'Ingu Toktok Wi' Attendee Kim Dong-yeon: "Gyeonggi-do Will Propose and Implement Alternatives, Even If Small"
Gyeonggi Province is preparing spaces and participation programs where unmarried young adults can naturally meet, and as the first step in improving the system to allow freelancers to receive parental leave pay, it will conduct a survey on the current situation.
On the 7th, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon attended the Population Talk Talk Committee meeting held on this topic and said, "This is the seventh meeting, and at each meeting, we have been steadily accumulating practical alternatives by directly listening to the stories of young people and women," emphasizing, "Although the policies may seem small, by accumulating them, we will create and implement alternatives that are different, at least in Gyeonggi Province."
He added, "I believe that population issues are not the responsibility of any single department within Gyeonggi Province but require the combined efforts of the entire provincial government," and urged, "Please strive to propose and implement more practical alternatives to population issues than other metropolitan governments and even the central government."
During the discussion, Gyeonggi Province reflected residents' suggestions that unmarried men and women lack opportunities for natural meetings and decided to utilize 43 youth spaces prepared by each city and county to create programs where unmarried young adults can participate together. Specific program contents such as cooking classes will be developed and promoted.
Furthermore, a survey will be conducted to support freelancers' parental leave pay. Currently, even if Gyeonggi Province tries to promote support policies, it is difficult to specify the scope and scale of support targets due to the lack of agreed definitions and legal regulations. Therefore, while conducting the survey, Gyeonggi Province plans to propose amendments to the Employment Insurance Act, including expanding employment insurance coverage, and related system improvements to protect freelancers' rights.

For family-oriented programs with children, a Children's Day festival will be held in May as a planned event, and family-oriented performances will be arranged as part of the visiting cultural welfare program hosted by the Gyeonggi Arts Center.
