Musk Meets Trump: "I Will Not Donate to Any US Presidential Candidate"
In 2020, Supported Biden, Recently Opposed
"Possibility of Other Political Donations Such as Super PACs"
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has stated that he will not financially support any candidate in the upcoming U.S. presidential election.
On the morning of the 6th (local time), Musk posted on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), "I want to make it clear that I am not donating money to either candidate in this U.S. presidential election."
This statement is interpreted as a clarification following reports that Musk met with former President Donald Trump, which led to speculation that he might be donating campaign funds to Trump. Previously, the New York Times (NYT) reported, citing anonymous sources, that former President Trump met with Musk on the 3rd in Palm Beach, Florida. This sparked speculation that Musk might be responding to the Trump campaign's recent search for a major financial backer.
Local media outlets such as Bloomberg assessed Musk's statement as not entirely ruling out the possibility of donations through super PACs (special political action committees) or other political purposes. Musk had revealed that he voted for President Joe Biden in the 2020 election. However, he has criticized Biden's policies, including issues related to illegal immigration at the U.S. southwestern border, and has taken a confrontational stance against the progressive camp.

Meanwhile, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk's net worth is estimated at $192 billion (approximately 260 trillion KRW). However, compared to other billionaires, Musk has reportedly been relatively reluctant to donate political funds. According to Federal Election Commission records, Musk's political donations have totaled less than $1 million (approximately 1.33 billion KRW) since 2009.
