Integrated Classes Using Regular Childcare Groups Introduced...‘Saimdang’ and ‘Ainuri’ Daycare Centers Designated

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is expanding the operation of hourly childcare at daycare centers for families temporarily in need of child care.
'Hourly childcare' is a service that provides care by the hour when there is a short-term childcare gap. Families who do not use daycare centers can also leave their children, helping to reduce the burden of parenting.
The district has been operating independent hourly childcare classes at the 'Gwangjin-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center (Junggok-dong 30-80)' and the 'District-run Neungdong Kkummaji Daycare Center (Neungdong 249-4)'. Starting from the 4th of this month, 'Saimdang Daycare Center (Jayang-dong 219-31)' and 'Ainuri Daycare Center (Jayang-dong 762)' will be added as integrated class facilities to fill the childcare gap.
The integrated hourly childcare class fills the unfilled quota of regular childcare classes to take care of children. It is more efficient than independent classes that require separate spaces and dedicated teachers, thus reducing the operational burden on daycare centers.
It can be used on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., up to 60 hours per month. The hourly childcare fee is 5,000 KRW, but parents only pay 2,000 KRW, with the remainder covered by government subsidies.
The target group is infants aged 6 months to 2 years who receive parental allowance or childcare benefits. Families wishing to use the service must make a reservation through the 'Pregnancy and Childcare Comprehensive Portal' 14 days before the intended use date and then visit in person.
