"Fire Fire"... Changwon Special City Uichang-gu Conducts Fire Preparedness Localized Civil Defense Training
On the 6th, Uichang-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, conducted a disaster (fire) preparedness regional specialized civil defense drill at Unicity Complex 2 Apartments.
The drill was organized as part of prior life safety education. The training was conducted under the assumption that an unknown cause fire broke out on the 6th floor of Building 204 in Unicity Apartments, resulting in one seriously injured person, two minor injuries, and property damage estimated at 18 million KRW by the fire station.
In particular, more than 120 participants including Uichang Fire Station, Changwon West Police Station, and the Uichang-gu Women's Civil Defense Mobile Unit took part, mobilizing 10 vehicles such as fire trucks, aerial ladder trucks, and ambulances, as well as 20 pieces of equipment including fire extinguishers, conducting a drill prepared for an actual situation.
The drill began with a demonstration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and proceeded from 2 p.m. with fire occurrence communication and evacuation, life rescue and fire suppression, patient transport and fire cleanup, and emergency recovery activities. After the fire suppression drill, a demonstration of descending using an emergency escape device was shown.

Gwak Gi-gwon, head of Uichang-gu Office, said, “Through this drill, we hope that local residents and related organizations will strengthen their cooperation system and cultivate proactive disaster response capabilities,” adding, “We always hope that people keep in mind that disasters can be prevented if prepared for and dealt with in advance.”
